WHAT IS A PEPTIDE?

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. These amino acids are linked together by peptide bonds — special chemical connections that form when one amino acid joins another.

While proteins are made up of long, complex chains of hundreds or even thousands of amino acids, peptides are much shorter — typically containing anywhere from 2 to 50 amino acids.

Because of their smaller size, peptides can act faster and more specifically within biological systems.

How Peptides Work

Peptides serve as signaling molecules in the body, helping cells communicate and regulate essential biological processes.

Depending on their structure and function, peptides can influence:

  • Hormone release

  • Cell repair and regeneration

  • Immune response

  • Metabolism and energy regulation

  • Skin, hair, and tissue health

In scientific research, peptides are often studied for their potential to mimic or enhance natural biological functions, offering insight into healing, growth, and performance mechanisms.
